With over two decades of experience across film, tourism, and creative industries, Zaid Shaker is driving AlUla's transformation into a global film production hub, positioning it as a key player in northwest Arabia’s cultural and economic landscape. Zaid’s career began in Jordan, where he developed expertise in strategy, business development, and operations. He has held senior roles at prestigious organizations, including PwC, Chemonics, Abt Associates, Global Communities, and the Royal Film Commission of Jordan. His strategic vision has been critical in aligning Film AlUla’s initiatives with global industry standards, solidifying its reputation as a leading force in the film sector.

Mahsa Motamedi
Director of Marketing and Business Development
With over 25 years of leadership in the film and entertainment industry, Mahsa is a driving force behind AlUla’s evolution into a global production hub. Her expertise includes pivotal roles at the Dubai International Film Festival, where she played a key part in enhancing its status as the Middle East’s premier film event. Mahsa was also integral to the successful launch and development of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, contributing to its rapid growth and global recognition. Starting her career in advertising, Mahsa developed deep expertise in brand strategy, shaping the international expansion of the creative industries.

Declan Leonard
Commercial Excellence Director
With over 20 years of experience in the media sector, Declan brings extensive expertise to Film AlUla. Previously with PwC’s Media Sub-Sector Deals team, he specialized in production, distribution and broadcaster M&A transactions across the UK, Europe, and the US. He also collaborated with the UK Department of Media, Culture, and Sport during the pandemic to restart production film and television production post-lockdown. Declan holds a First-Class BSc in Accounting and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Sharif Almajali
Production Director
Sharif began his career as a location manager on high-profile international productions, including the Academy Award-winning the Hurt Locker. He later served as Head of Production Services at the Royal Film Commission of Jordan, where he played a pivotal role in positioning Jordan as a prominent global filming destination. Sharif then founded Desert Motion Pictures, a full-service production company, before joining Nebras Films as Executive Vice President of Production. Sharif has amassed an impressive filmography, contributing to projects across multiple platforms. In 2025, he joined Film AlUla, bringing his wealth of experience to elevate the region’s film industry.
